Reddy Connect — Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Reddy Connect (“we”, “us”, “our”) is operated by the Reddy Community Association. We act as the Data Fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”) for the personal data you provide through this app.

2. What personal data we collect

  • Identity & contact: name (English / Tamil), date of birth, blood group, mobile and alternate mobile number, address, education and occupation details, photographs you upload.
  • Family context: relationship to other members, family code, region, village, district, head-of-family flag.
  • Account credentials: username, role assignment, login timestamps, device identifiers needed to keep the session secure.
  • Optional listings: matrimonial profile (DOB, time of birth, horoscope, expectation, native place, contact details), employment profile (skills, education, work history), business listing (owner identity, contact info, photos).

We collect only the data that is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in section 3.

3. Purposes for which we use your data

We process your data ONLY for the following specified purposes (DPDP §6):

  • To maintain the community member directory and allow other community members to discover and contact you.
  • To operate the matrimonial, employment, and business-listing features you choose to participate in.
  • To authenticate you, secure your account, and prevent fraud or abuse of the platform.
  • To allow community administrators to moderate listings and approve matrimonial profiles.
  • To communicate service announcements and respond to your support or grievance requests.

We do NOT use your data for advertising, profiling, automated decision-making, or sale to third parties.

4. Lawful basis & consent

We rely on your free, specific, informed, and unconditional consent (DPDP §6(1)) for all the above purposes. You are shown this policy and a consent option at first launch, and you may withdraw consent at any time via “My Data → Withdraw consent” inside the app. Withdrawing consent will stop further processing but does not affect the lawfulness of processing done before the withdrawal.

5. Sharing of your data

We share your personal data only with:

  • Other community members, but ONLY the fields you have chosen to make public in your profile or listing.
  • Cloud hosting / database providers that store the data on our behalf under contractual obligations. They act as Data Processors and are not allowed to use your data for any other purpose.
  • Law-enforcement or courts when compelled by a valid order.

We do NOT sell, rent, or commercially share your data with advertisers, brokers, or marketing companies.

6. Cross-border transfers

Data is stored in servers located in India. If we later need to transfer data outside India, we will notify you and the transfer will be made only to jurisdictions notified by the Central Government under DPDP §16.

7. Retention

Retention windows are enforced by an automated daily sweep on our servers. The current windows are:

  • Account & profile data: retained while your account is active and for 90 days after deletion or consent withdrawal, then hard-deleted from the live database.
  • Listings (matrimonial, employment, business): hard-deleted 30 days after they are soft-deleted or you withdraw consent.
  • Change-audit history: 180 days, then erased.
  • Encrypted backups: rolling 30-day cycle; deletion requests propagate to backups within that window.

8. Your rights under DPDP

You have the right to:

  • Access a summary of personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct or update inaccurate or out-of-date data.
  • Erase your personal data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Withdraw consent and request that we stop further processing.
  • Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of incapacity or death (DPDP §14).

All four of the above can be exercised from the in-app “My Data” screen. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Children & minors

We do not knowingly collect personal data of children under 18 without verifiable parental consent (DPDP §9). If you believe a child has been added to a family record, ask the head of family to remove them or contact the Data Protection Officer.

10. Security

Personal data is encrypted at rest in the OS keystore on your device and in transit via HTTPS once available. Passwords are stored as irreversible salted hashes. Administrative access to the database is logged and reviewed.

11. Breach notification

If a personal data breach is reasonably likely to affect you, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and the affected users without undue delay, in accordance with DPDP §8(6).

If your grievance is not resolved satisfactorily, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India at https://dpbi.gov.in.

13. Changes to this policy

When we make a material change we bump the policy version number and re-show this screen so you can re-confirm your consent. Continued use of the app after re-consenting indicates acceptance of the updated policy.

Account & data deletion

You can delete your account and personal data at any time from My Account → My Data → Delete / erase account in the app, or by emailing trichyreddynalasangam2025@gmail.com. See the retention windows in section 7 for what is removed and when.
